Darrock Jan-March 2015
Darrock is starting to write and draw more at this age. He also likes to “seal” his notes, so this particular love note to mom has some glare from the glue that luckily had not dried when I opened it. The note says: “To Mom Love Darrock Have a great day you are the best ever in the whole world xo.”
One of my favorites – note how TALL daddy is and yet his head is so small, lol. Darrock has the biggest head. Third pic has everyone more in proportion with some nice colors.
This is Darrock’s rendition of our playscape after Jim created the climbing wall:
Darrock copying from a book:
A couple of apology notes from Darrock. He had told Jim he didn’t know what to write and Jim said you can’t say you’re sorry too many times. Blue note says, “I am sorry for being bad I love you I am sorry I am sorry I will be respectful boy listen the first time I am sorry I am sorry I am sorry I am sorry I am sorry I am sorry I am sorry” The pink note is all “I am sorry” with a picture of me (the tall one) and him (barely visible in pencil) saying I am sorry.
I created a “Time” drawing for Darrock to bring to class for their “T” word show & tell. The other 2 drawings are his attempt to re-create the clock:
Other creations from Darrock:
Shannon & Darrock
I had both Shannon and Darrock write an apology note to Omi for not getting to try the cupcakes she brought them for Valentines day, due to misbehavior:
Shannon and Darrock played with glitter glue one afternoon. Not sure whose pic is who’s. Hard to tell, but the last 2 are handprints:
The first one is a little disturbing and funny. The blue is clearly Darrock’s coloring and the red writing is Shannon’s. It says, “Shannon’s dead ahh we love her we are sad.” She claims Darrock told her to write it and she didn’t want me to save it. Maybe I’ll come back and delete it. The next pic is a mystery. I’m wondering what they destroyed in the process of destroying the paper…
Apparently, Shannon gave Darrock some smiley face homework:
Shannon and Darrock’s little song they sing around the house and I can’t get it out of my head:
I have no idea what this is or what it actually says. Game they were playing?
Lunch notes from mom & dad:
Some jokes I looked up for the kids. They weren’t quite understanding what a joke was, so we tried some out. The “tissue” and “banana” ones went over very well (and my roofer friend loved the “roof” one):

My fav:
Sweet Get Well note from Shannon when I was sick for over 2 weeks:
Other creations:
Presents for mom and dad:
Shannon has started many books. All she made up and 1 she copied from Frog & Toad:
Besides books, Shannon likes to create games. I’m assuming this may have been part of some game (the red one another):
A little academic work I created for Shannon (and a funny one she created for me!):
Quiet expectations? Almost identical creations:
Apology notes:
Stuff from Other People
Shannon’s Kindergarten friend David made her a purse and had a couple of play dates with us. At our house, the kids put on a “band” show.
From Judy:
Presley (Shannon’s K classmate) made this for Darrock and he wanted to keep it:
Shannon got this at Presley’s birthday “build-a-bear” birthday party for the rainbow bear in her room:
This one is from Emily. I gave her a ride to soccer and she was very upset about leaving her mother. She made it, though, and put together a quick picture for Shannon who rode to soccer with Jim:
I’m not sure who made this – it seems too uniform to have been Darrock, but Darrock has been making eyes like these. So, either Darrock or one of Shannon’s classmates.
